The Enigma of Rahu-Ketu and their dispositors
(Part two)

Vedic astrology is really huge and seems a world of contradictory ideas, but it can be understood little by little when we find some keys for seeing the horoscope and we think Rahu and Ketu and their dispositors can be considered as a valuable key to perceive karmic astrology.
Karmic Astrology
Karmic astrology try to unveil the mysteries of human being’s life and we may perceive it as geography of human life which shows the main lines and challenges in our lives. In other words, karmic astrology is the art and science of realization the karmas which make our lives; the effects of our past lives or our unconscious on conscious level of mind. C. G. Jung has described “karma” very well: “what happen to a person are characteristics of him. He represents a pattern and all the pieces fit. One by one, as his life proceeds, they fall into place according to same pre-destined design.”
On the other hand, astrology as the science of observing all spheres of life is based upon different cosmic rules and specific structure of existence which connect us to the world of karma and destiny. Paramhans Yogananda in his great work, autobiography of a yogi, has mentioned it properly: “a child is born on that day and at that hour when the celestial rays are in mathematical harmony with his individual karma. His horoscope is a challenging portrait, revealing his unalterable past and its probable future results. But the natal chart can be rightly interpreted only by men of intuitive wisdom, these are few”.
Classification of Karmas
There are three models of karmas based upon the vedic wisdom.
1) Kriyaman Karma which means the karmas that we create them in this very lifetime. Jyotisha can unveil the secrets of this type of karmas according to analyze the transits of planets relative to the planetary periods (Gochara).
2) Pralabd Karma which means general lines of our destiny in the present lifetime. Therefore, pralabd karma is more important than kriyaman karma and may control it. Different aspects of pralabd can be realized by interpreting the birth chart.
3) Sinchit Karma is the warehouse of karmas which is accumulated over many lifetimes and determines the pralabds that is the past and next lives and its reasons.
On the other hand, we may consider these three types of karmas as conscious, subconscious and unconscious levels of mind. So, the sinchit is the source of karmic waves in our lives.
In astrology, there are some points that direct us to understand the secrets of “sinchit”, such as the situation of 5th and 9th houses; but the role of Rahu and Ketu is exceptional.
Rahu and Ketu and their dispositors may show and guide us to realize the reasons of manifestation of “sinchit” as this or that “pralabd”!
More items for interpreting of Rahu-Ketu and their dispositors
The hypothesis we have presented in the previous number was if dispositors of Rahu and Ketu have a harmonious relationship with each other, then the achievement level of the individual is much higher than the average, and we presented a few example charts to illustrate our point of view.
In this number, we add some more items for better understanding of this subject:
1) the importance of shadbala for Rahu-Ketu dispositors in the birth chart (Janma Kundali).
2) The importance of Ashtakavarga
3) The importance of Rahu-Ketu dispositors in the divisional charts (Vargas)
Shadbala and Ashtakavarga are the unique systems for determining planetary strengths and weaknesses. So, they provide helpful information about the ability of Rahu-Ketu dispositors.
Divisional charts are another unique and extraordinary aspect of vedic astrology which are considered by jyotishis for completing their knowledge about the horoscope. The situation of Rahu-Ketu dispositors in the vargas may show some more subtle aspects in this regards.

Yogananda as a great yogi and mystic man who brings and introduces yogic studies especially kriya yoga to the west, has an interesting chart.
The lords of Rahu and Ketu are located in one moksha sign (8th sign) and one moksha house (8th house). They are in 5-9 distance from each other (Mars and Venus) and we know, the lords of 5th and 9th as the previous and future lives are located in spiritual 8th house in conjunction with each other and in another moksha sign (12th sign). It may show a person who has come to this world by blessings from past life to improve spirituality and revive the “Dharma”.
Mars and Venus as Rahu-Ketu dispositors have 412 and 451 virupas depending on shadbala system which shows very powerful situation of them.
The most powerful sarvashtakavarga in this chart belongs to Tula (3rd house), the place of Ketu as moksha karaka. Therefore, yogananda and proper ability to accomplish his karma and duty.
There are interesting situations in the divisional charts also for example in “Drekkana” which shows our curiosity, courage and Endeavour especially to work in a group with friends or brothers ….. to achieve our goals, we can see Mars and Venus, the lords of Rahu-Ketu in conjunction with each other and in 12th house (4th sign) both sign and house belong to moksha group.
In dashamsha chart which shows the ability to achieve our goals, and karmic possibilities in this regard, we can see again Mars and Venus in the 5th house (12th sign) in association with each other. On the other hand, Venus as lord of the 10th house in the birth chart is in its exaltation in the dashamsha chart.
Navamsha as the main divisional chart, not only indicates marriage but also reflects the nature of the 9th house and we can see Mars and Venus in the 5th and 9th houses (and 5-9 from each other like birth chart).
In dwadashamsha and vimshamsha, both Mars and Venus are in conjunction with each other again and in two fiery signs.
